Representatives from the Gozo Business Chamber and Gozitan business community recently participated in a Malta-China Business Forum, organised by the Office of the President.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion Carmelo Abela, speaking during the forum, stated that Malta and China have a long succession of initiatives that have borne witness to the longstanding ties between them that have grown and strengthened since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972.
He added that “this has facilitated the development of a framework of cooperation that has created a strong bond between our two peoples.”
Minister Abela went on to say that, “collaboration in diverse areas such as health, energy, infrastructure, and transport has been enriched by the signing of 61 agreements, which have opened doors for initiatives of mutual benefit.”
At the end of last month, Minister for Finance Edward Scicluna and Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, arranged a meeting between representatives of the Gozitan business community, with Ms. Sophie Chen, coordinator of a delegation of Chinese investors, where they discussed the potential for investment in Gozo.
