The Gozo University Group has welcomed the news that Villa Lauri in Birkirkara, is to be used as accommodation for Gozitan students studying in Malta and relatives of patients hospitalised in Malta.
The GUG organisation thanked the Ministry for Gozo and the Brothers of St. Francis on the agreement reached to enable this initiative to go ahead, ” with an estimated cost of €1,000,000 for the refurbishment and construction.”
It is expected that work will start in April this year, with Villa Lauri will opening its doors to welcome the first residents at the start of next year.
Villa Lauri consists of 4 storeys and it will accommodate 33 persons, among which several of these people will be students studying in Malta.
The Gozo University Group concluded by saying that it looks forward “to hearing of similar initiatives in the future, thereby helping to eliminate the problems of accommodation which many Gozitan students have to face while studying in Malta.
