It is just a few days away from the World Kidney Day, which is commemorated on the 14th of March, and the National Blood Transfusion Service has said that on the Maltese Islands there are around 300 people suffering with some form of kidney disease, with a substantial number of them needing blood transfusions.
As a show of solidarity with them, the Service is inviting those Gozitans who are healthy to please make a donation. In particular, the Service is in urgent need of O Positive and A Positive blood.
There is a donation in Gozo this coming Tuesday, the 12th of March, between 1:00pm and 5:00pm – last registration is 5:00pm – at the District Health Centre in Xewkija.
It is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand.
The Service thanks everyone who intends to donate.
