Nadur Council to receive funds from PA's Development Planning FundNadur Local Council is one of sixteen Local Councils to benefit from funds allocated from the Planning Authority’s Development Planning Fund, to be used on various projects within the localities.

The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and the Property Market Chris Agius and Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government and Communities Silvio Parnis, met with the Local Councils during the presentation.

Minister Borg said that, “today we are funding projects with a total value of more than € 3 million,” meaning a better quality of life for the residents of various localities around Malta and Gozo.

Minister Borg announced that the Planning Authority was signing around 16 different contracts, and in order to increase help to councils, this fund now permits councils to receive up to 30% of the project value before the start of the project in order to help initiate the projects.

Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and the Property Market Chris Agius explained that more than €1 million would be distributed in funds from the Development Planning Fund to several councils today.

He added that this money comes from payments requested from developers who are obligated to do this as part of particular developments.

The Parliamentary Secretary Agius concluded by saying that these payments help by contributing to the environment and other facilities for communities.

Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government and Communities Silvio Parnis said, “today’s initiative is a clear example of unity between the central government and the local government as they are investing together in our country’s localities.”
