A road resurfacing programme will be starting in Victoria over the coming days, the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana announced today.
Minister Caruana said that a few months ago it was announced that through Project Gozo work on the reconstruction of 50 roads would be carried out all around Gozo, some of which have now been completed, with others at an advanced stage.
Dr Caruana said that in the coming days works will start at Triq Mattia Preti, Triq Forn il-Gir, Triq Michele Busuttil and Triq Mary Mejlaq, which are all roads that form part of the area known as Capuchin in Victoria.
“When these streets are completed our sights are firmly set on Triq Ta’ Wara s-Sur and Triq l-Img?allem, for which tenders have already been issued and assessed,” said the Minister.
She explained how after the end of the public consultation process, an application was submitted to the Planning Authority for the reconstruction of the Marsalforn Road, which runs from the heart of Victoria to the popular resort of Marsalforn.
Dr Caruana concluded by saying that “this project will also address another electoral promise of an alternative route to Victoria which will meet several key challenges, including traffic congestion – with a detailed plan of traffic management, reduced emissions in the centre of Victoria, better rainwater management and creating pedestrian areas, as well as accessible space for cyclists.”
