46 new cases of Covid-19 were found in the last 24 hours, health authorities said in their daily update on Wednesday.
Another 48 recoveries meanwhile have also been registered in the same period, the figures show.
It means that Malta now has 664 active cases of the virus, with the number decreasing by two since Tuesday.
The cases were found from 2,185 swab tests, a number which takes the overall figure of tests carried out up to 179,703.
Authorities said that today’s cases are still being investigated.
They did however give details on the cases announced on Tuesday, when 38 cases were found. Out of these, six were family members of previously known cases, two were direct contacts of known cases, five were work colleagues of positive cases, four are imported cases, and two are contacts from social gathering.
Since the first case of the virus was found on 7 March, Malta has registered a total of 1,751 cases out of which 1,077 have recovered and 10 have died.
