A group wanting Malta to leave the European Union was launched today with an event in front of the Prime Minister’s office in Valletta.
The group, known as Mexit (in similar vein as the Brexit movement which led to a referendum on the UK’s membership in the EU), listed illegal migration as the main reason why Malta should leave the EU.
In their promotion leading to this evening’s activity, the group said it is also against the invasion of foreigners coming to work in Malta.
The group is calling for a referendum for the Maltese to vote on whether or not they want to remain in the European Union.
“Malta should come first and foremost,” the group said.
