Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has tasked the Principal Permanent Secretary to coordinate the analysis of a report by Standards Commissioner George Hyzler, the government said in a statement.
Hyzler’s report, published on Saturday, calls for an end to the practice of giving backbench members of Parliament jobs or consultancies with the government. The report describes the practice as “fundamentally wrong”.
In a statement, the Office of the Prime Minister said PPS Mario Cutajar will oversee the analysis of the report and present it for consideration. The analysis will include legal and administrative aspects raised by Hyzler’s report. The analysis will be made public.
