Outgoing Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion Carmelo Abela, paid an official visit to Palestine upon an official invitation by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

During his stay in Betlehem, Muscat held separate meetings with President Abbas and with the Prime Minister of Palestine Mohammad Shtayyeh.

The Prime Minister, who will resign on 12 January after his office was linked with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, was also invited to attend the Christmas Midnight Mass in the Church of Nativity together with dignitaries from across the world.
