The price of local milk and related products is set to go up as from next Monday, Malta Dairy Products said.
The company said that the price increase “would be minimal” and would ensure that consumers continue to be provided with fresh optimum milk.
The company said it had retained the same price for the past seven years, despite the fact that dairy products and dietary conditions in foreign markets had risen in price considerably.
Malta Dairy Products Ltd said that the price increase was necessary to sustain the livelihood of farmers.
The price increase (see table below) would see a 10c and 7c rise in whole milk – 1 litre and half-litre respectively, while an 11c rise will be in the price of milk 2.5% fat (i litre) and skimmed milk (1 litre).
