Music fans rejoice! Two nights of killer performances from international stars of the highest calibre are about to hit Maltese shores. Supported by a whole host of local acts, the magnificent BBC Concert Orchestra and the legendary Liam Gallagher will be taking to the stage at the Granaries in Floriana.

Oh, and the concerts are totally free! So you have no reason not to stop by.

On the 17th of July, the BBC Concert Orchestra will be bringing movie magic to life with ‘Lights, Camera, Malta’

A 70-piece orchestra will bring you a night of live music dedicated to the scores of some of the most iconic films ever to be shot in Malta. Over 100 spectacular films have had their cameras roll in Malta, including The Da Vinci Code, Midnight Express, Troy, Popeye, and Gladiator. And, as we all know, it’s famously served as a principal location for the hit TV series Game of Thrones.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, there are going to be two GoT stars present on the night! Our host for the night is going to be none other than Tywin Lannister himself, Mr Charles Dance. Hannah Waddighman, who played Septa Unella on the show, will also be present as one of the musical guests on the night.

Hannah Waddighman will also be joined by Louise Dearman (who played the roles of both Elphaba and Glinda on the West End production of Wicked), and Bradley Jaden (who played Fiyero in Wicked and Javert in Les Miserables on the West End). Quite a treat for any musical theatre fans out there.

Local pop duo and theatre-makers The New Victorians will be opening for the orchestra on the night, performing a 30-minute set of their own hits, and maybe a few covers thrown into the mix.

And on the 18th of July, Brit-rock legend Liam Gallagher will be belting out a couple of classics

The former Oasis frontman and outspoken celebrity will be gracing us with his iconic voice and inimitable personality. Local celebs Ira Losco and Matthew James Borg will be opening for Gallagher, who’s just rocked the Glastonbury stage over in the UK.

He’ll obviously be performing some classics from his Oasis era, so prepare your Wonderwall-belting voices. But he’ll also be performing a bunch of his more recent originals, like the recently released Shockwave from his 2019 album Why Me? Why Not.

Gallagher’s voice is a pretty iconic one, that music lovers of all ages will be familiar with. Whether you grew up listening to the British band with your parents, remember when they were all the rage during your youth, or have just gotten to know Liam from his more recent music, the concert is bound to be a killer one.

Both concerts are totally free of charge, but you need to book your tickets online to be guaranteed entry
