A woman who was stabbed in Zabbar on Sunday night died in hospital on Monday evening, the police said.

The woman, 34, had been stabbed in the head by a man during an argument and was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The incident happened just outside the St Patrick’s football club in Main Road, corner with Triq is-Santwarju at 8.15pm.

The aggressor, a 33-year-old, left the scene of the incident but later gave himself up to the police. He went to the police headquarters in Floriana, with his clothes covered in blood.


The argument between the two started inside the club and spilled onto the pavement.

He was also found to be carrying what the police believe are illicit substances.

Both the aggressor and the woman, aged 34, are from Safi.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
